Keeping Letters in Proportion

I've tried here to come up with a clever title. The "letters" refer to the application of algebra and "proportion" indicates a simple mathematical relationship that can be defined by a formula.

There are different topics covering the manipulation of equations (or formulae) but this page relates to using a selection of formulae and how to apply them.

There are mathematical formulae:

There are financial formulae:

Example: Working out the monthly payment for a mortgage

There are scientific formulae:

Example: Working out the voltage across a resistor

When we apply formulae we need to work with the correct units of measurement so dimensional analysis skills are vital.
