Together and Apart

In maths, combinations often goes hand in hand with permutations. When talking set theory, we need to consider how things go together or form a combination.

We can show how our groups go together by Venn Diagrams. We learn about the Universal set, unions, and subsets. We wonder where this formal language of sets can be applied in everyday life.

In this world of data, it is important to be able to categorise selections of information, to make sense of situations. Often we are too close to the trees to see the wood. Sets help us see the bigger picture.

Learning about sets and getting into the way of categorising data allows us to break down and simplify problems. If we can simplify problems we are well on the way to solving difficult and complex tasks.

This simplification skillset allows us to solve, plan, and predict.
